A KDSZSZ 2017. január 13. napján tisztújító kongresszust tart, ahol az új szakszervezeti vezetők megválasztása mellett a testület a következő öt éves választási ciklusra szóló Szövetségi Program tartalmáról is dönteni fog. A KDSZSZ ágazati szintű szakszervezet, mivel több alágazathoz tartozó munkáltatónál rendelkezik érdekképviselettel. A Szövetségnek Budapesten, a II. János Pál pápa tér 3. sz. alatt van a székhelye.
Decemberben ülésezett Szövetségi Tanács a KDSZSZ elnöki tisztségére, Dobi Istvánt, társelnököknek pedig, Kekecs Károlyt és Hoffmann Antal jelölte, továbbá 3 fős Ellenőrző Bizottság megválasztása mellett is döntött a testület.
